1 out of 3 women suffer from Acne at least once in their lifetime. So why is the statistic so staggering?
Because in many cases, Acne isn’t caused by what you might think like allergies, adolescence and heredity. It comes from sources that aren’t so obvious, and today we’re going to cover 3 that just might surprise you!
Studies over the years have proven the way we feel on the inside can have a HUGE impact the way our skin behaves. Why? Most of our nerve endings are connected to the skin that wraps around our organs, so when we’re stressed out, our skin does too!
Stanford University proved this theory during a study a few years back. They learned students most often experienced breakouts during exams, when the pressure was on!
The phrase “you are what you eat” isn’t just about maintaining healthy weight. What we eat can have a major impact on our complexion too! A sugary or simple carb diet such as honey, soft drinks, bagels and pasta can really throw off insulin levels which causes your skin and face to become not only irritated, but seriously angry!
But, when we replace those foods with green, leafy vegetables, that contain a huge amount of vitamin E and rich antioxidants, we’ll begin to see a huge improvement in our skin.
Lack of Sleep
When we sleep, our bodies go into repair mode, restoring skin tissue and rebuilding Collagen. When we don’t get enough sleep, we interrupt this very important process which can at times result in breakouts. They don’t call it “beauty sleep” for nothing! And if that’s not enough reason to get your 8 hours in, I don’t know what is!
Now, here’s the good news!
All 3 of these causes have 1 thing in common. They’re all things you have complete control over.
Because YOU can control the amount of stress you’re under, YOU can control the food you eat, and you guessed it, YOU can control the amount of sleep you get each night.
Is there something you do that keeps those nasty blemishes away? Tell me all about it in the comments below.
