Sure, you’ve been wearing it mineral foundationfor years, but do you really know everything there is to know about mineral foundation? Here are 4 things you probably didn’t know.

1. Foundation Doesn’t Just Even Your Complexion

You’ve probably assumed the sole purpose of foundation was to cover up imperfections and even out your skin tone. But, did you know it protects your skin as well? It acts as a barrier between your skin and the elements, preventing dirt and debris from absorbing into your skin.

2. If You’re Not Getting the Coverage You Want, Your Foundation Most Likely is Not the Problem

Did you know the type of coverage you want lies in the brush you use to apply it? It’s true. For example. If you’re looking for medium to full coverage, stay away from the kabuki brush. Why? Because a standard Kabuki Brush is a lot like a large powder brush; big and fluffy with a wide span of the bristles. It works great for a light dusting of finishing powder, but, it you want a full coverage, choose an application or flat brush. The bristles are tight together which packs the product tight; allowing the application to be more concentrated.

3. Finding Your Perfect Match is Much Easier Than You Think

I’ve found a very common thread when consulting with our customers over the years. The most frequently asked question? “How can I find the right shade for me?” The answer is to first figure out what type of undertone you have. I know it may sound complicated, but it’s as easy as the color of the veins on your wrist! If your veins are blue, your undertone is cool, if they’re green, your undertone is warm and a combination of both blue and green represent neutral or olive undertones.

4. Your foundation won’t perform its best until you get a handle on the skin underneath

So many times I’ve heard women say things like, “mineral makeup doesn’t last all day for me” or “my skin is oily and mineral makeup makes it worse.” And do you  know what? They’re right! Mineral makeup is only as good as the condition of your skin before you apply your makeup. This means you need to properly and consistently care for your skin’s needs (whether it be dry, oily or both) with the right skin care plan.
