You did it. After putting it off for months, you finally bought the skin care products you should have bought weeks ago.
You spent the big bucks this time because, after all, you get what you pay for, right?
Not so fast!
There’s nothing more frustrating than spending a lot of time and money on products that promise to deliver, but don’t.
So, what gives?
Today we’re going to cover the 5 reasons why your skincare isn’t working, And what you can do to finally find the products that do!
Reason #1 – You’re using the wrong products for your skin type
Cleansers, toners and moisturizers aren’t all the same. They are designed to handle the needs of each particular skin type.
Here’s an example: if you have dry skin, a moisturizer for oily skin won’t work for you because it doesn’t contain enough moisturizing ingredients needed to hydrate dry, parches skin. If you have normal skin, a cleanser for oily skin won’t work for you because it will strip your skin dry of all the good oils it needs to keep supple.
Reason #2- You’re not using a 3-step skin care system
You’ll need more than 1 product to take the very best care of your skin.
You need 3; a cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Why? Because each of these products is designed to do something very specific to your skin.
Cleanser is of course designed to cleanse. Toner wipes away any leftover residue while restoring the skins pH level, preparing it for moisturizer. And of course moisturizer keeps your skin properly moisturized.
So, if your cleanser doesn’t make your skin feel moisturized, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re using the wrong one. It means you need to leave the moisturizing to your moisturizer.
Reason #3- Your products have expired
Yes, even your skincare has an expiration date. It should be posted somewhere on your bottle or jar. If you can’t find the date, pay attention to the consistency and smell of the product. If it doesn’t look or smell right, chances are it’s definitely expired
Reason #4- The quality isn’t there
What do you do if you’re using a cleanser, toner and moisturizer designed for your skin type, but it still doesn’t work as it should?
Could be you’re using poor quality products made of inexpensive or watered-down ingredients. This doesn’t mean you need to spend a bundle on skincare, however. There are plenty of products reasonably priced that do an incredible job taking care of your skin.
Reason #5- You’re not using as directed
Men aren’t the only ones that don’t ask for directions!
When was the last time you read the directions on your skincare labels? Think it doesn’t matter?
Oh, but it does!
Some products are super concentrated so a very little bit goes a long way. Using more product than what’s recommended can leave your skin too oily or overly-dry while using less than recommended deprives your skin of the very best condition it can be.
