Is Your Makeup Drying Your Skin?

So, you’ve been successfully wearing mineral makeup for years, but now you’ve hit 40, and it’s almost as if you’ve suddenly “outgrown” it. And lately your skin not only feels drier, it looks drier, and you faithfully use moisturizer.

So what gives?

As we age, our skin gradually loses moisture, so in order to keep it looking hydrated and younger, we have to do whatever we can to lock that moisture in.

Sometimes that means switching out our skincare products for a formula that better meets the needs of dry and aging skin.

But changing those products may not be enough. We need to take another look at the makeup we use.

Loose mineral makeup powders are great for normal, combination and oily skin, but it can make dry skin even drier unless you’re lucky enough to find a formula that was made for dry skin like KmS Mineral Essentials anti-aging Select Botanical makeup.

Select Botanical Foundation is a luxurious blend of pure mineral makeup, infused with 7 soothing botanicals. Our incredible formula hydrates and nourishes the skin with a combination of Green Tea, Rose Hip, and other natural botanical extracts that work together to create a moisture barrier or “lock”. Most importantly, Select jumpstarts Collagen production, which improves the appearance of tired, aging skin.

There are of course skin care “experts” that argue whether or not botanicals in makeup are as effective as they are in skin care.

Our customers seem to think so. And maybe it’s something you need to see for yourself.

I want to know. What do you think about botanicals and skincare? Truth or hype? Share your thoughts below.

Oil is not Your Enemy!

oilbottlesWhen it comes to skincare, the word “oil” scares people, especially for those with excessive oily skin. They associate the word “oil” with “bad”.

But, here’s the thing. Oil is not your enemy.

Forget what you think you know about oil and your skin. Truth is, our skin must have an oil balance to stay healthy, happy and younger looking.

But yet, women go to extremes to rid their skin of oil at all costs. And what they don’t understand, is when they do this, they strip their skin of healthy, natural oils.

When the skin is stripped, it goes into panic mode, and compensates by creating even more oil, and this is what clogs pores, causes acne and leads to a host of other skin issues. Yikes!

So, how do you know you’re getting the right oil balance for your skin?

Get to know your skin type

You’re probably thinking, “That’s easy! I already know my skin type”. But do you really? Just because you had oily skin when you were 16, doesn’t necessarily mean you have oily skin today.

In fact, it’s not uncommon to have 3 different skin types throughout your lifetime.

Why? Because as we get older, our skin naturally loses the ability to create moisture. When this happens, we have to compensate by using the right facial products to restore moisture to our skin.

If you’re not so sure what your skin type is, no worries! There’s a simple way to find out for sure.

All you need to do is wash your face first thing in the morning. Don’t exercise or do anything that might make you sweat. Also do your best not to touch your face. After 2 hours, take a good look at your skin in the mirror.

If it feels clean, but not tight, and if you don’t notice any shine, then your skin is normal. If it feels dry and tight, and you don’t see any shine, your skin is dry. If your skin looks oily on your forehead and nose, but looks and feels dry on your cheeks, you have combination skin, and finally, if it looks oily everywhere, you’ve got oily skin.

Now that you know your skin type today, you need to be sure the skincare products you’re using are right for that type, and you’ll then be able to create that perfect oil balance.

Stop Having a Meltdown!

ultimateHow do they do it? You know who I’m talking about. The women who’s face looks fresh and near flawless, even in the summer heat.

If you’re going to spend a lot of time outdoors this summer (and who doesn’t), the last thing you want is to have a makeup meltdown, but let’s be honest, is it possible not to?

For most, an everyday foundation doesn’t quite cut it in the hot summer heat, causing some to skip foundation altogether.

And that’s not such a good idea.

Because foundation does more than even out skin tone. It also protects the skin by creating a barrier between your skin and pollution in the environment, making it a makeup staple every single day.

But, that’s not their only option anymore.

There are foundations out there like KmS Mineral Essentials Ultimate Mineral Foundation that were designed to beat the heat, even in extreme weather conditions.

Ultimate Mineral Foundation contains an “extra shot” of Kaolin Clay, an incredible oil absorbing natural mineral that prevents oily breakthrough so those meltdowns can be a thing of the past.

Ultimate Mineral Foundation is the perfect daily foundation option for those with extremely oily skin, and works just as well when used seasonally for those that battle oil primarily in the summertime.

So, what do you do differently with your makeup in the summer to keep it from melting? Tell me all about it in the comments below.

The Only Product You’ll Want (And Need) This Summer

bb-3BB Cream. You’ve heard the name, but maybe you think it’s just another tinted moisturizer.

It isn’t.

Today, you’ll learn the truth behind BB Cream and why it’s the only product you’ll want (and need) this summer.

BB Cream was created to replace products we already use separately, so we can save time and money on our beauty routine. Here’s why it’s so genius:

It’s as Close to Bare as You Can Get

There’s something about the summer that makes you want to run face naked. The last thing you want to do when the weather is warm and humid is wear a lot of makeup. A BB cream is feather light and allows your skin to “breathe” unlike heavy foundations while giving your skin a healthy, fresh look.

You’re Protected

Most BB Creams contain sun protection equal to spf15 or more, and unlike sunscreen we use on the rest of our body, was designed to be extra gentle to your face, and won’t leave your skin looking and feeling oily.

It’s a Cover Up

While a BB Cream isn’t foundation, it gives you more coverage than a tinted sunscreen, which results in a more even looking, gorgeous complexion.

Some Give 5 Years Back

Some BB Creams, like KmS Mineral Essentials Perfecting BB Cream contain anti-aging and brightening ingredients like Matrixyl® Synthe’6 and Malvaceae Lipid Extract™. With regular use, these ingredients have shown to visibly improved the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

You Can Use It All Year Long

BB Cream was originally created as a summer product, but women are so crazy about the the results, they’re using it year round (this girl included)!

Have you used a BB Cream? I’d love to know your thoughts! Let’s get the conversation going below.
