Today I’m going to share what essential oils taught me about mineral makeup.
So, I have a confession to make. I used to think Essential Oils were a bunch of “hocus-pocus”. That’s probably because my first impression came from my Great Aunt who was a bit eccentric.
Aunt Pearl was a “Happy Hippie”. I couldn’t have been more than 6 the first time she came to visit. I remember being fascinated by all the odd looking trinkets, rocks and natural products in her suitcase; not to mention the strange aromas coming out of the guest bedroom.
She explained how she used Essential Oils everyday to help her relax and ease her pain. I didn’t understand, and how could I? I thought everyone took aspirin for everything.
Fast forward to today, and now I get it.
I’m not any different than anyone else my age; 50 brings a lot of aches and pains. I’ve lived with arthritis on both sides of my neck since my early 20’s and managing the pain became part of my daily routine.
I would take pain meds regularly to take the edge off, but it was still there. Occasionally, there were times when I would “brace” myself, tightening up my muscles to compensate for the discomfort I was feeling, and that of course made everything worse.
Long story short, I had the opportunity to try essential oils to see if it might make a difference. After years when nothing else worked, I realized I had nothing to lose because I was desperate for a solution.
I’m so glad I took that step of faith, because using the oils has greatly improved the pain I was having, and going through that experience helped me understand that mineral makeup isn’t much different than essential oils.
Now I know mineral makeup isn’t for everyone, because not everyone is at their rock bottom when it comes to their skin. Not everyone is ready for mineral makeup.
Much like essential oils, using mineral makeup is a commitment to doing the very best for your skin, even if it goes against the grain of what everyone else is doing. Those that pass or give up using mineral makeup don’t know they need it yet, and that’s ok, because it will be here when they do!
So, if you currently wear mineral makeup, what brought you to that decision? I’d love for you to share your skin story below!
