minimize pores

If you have oily or combination skin, you already know all about your pores.

If your have either skin type, you know how important it is to choose makeup and skincare products created to prevent pores from becoming clogged.

But, depending on your skin, these products alone might not be enough to keep them free and clear.

If you’ve ever experienced breakouts you can’t explain, or have an issue managing the size of your skins pores, keep reading, because today’s post is all about simple ways to quickly minimize your pores.

What are pores anyway?

They’re tiny openings (holes) on the upper layer of the skin where dirt, debris and oil easily enter. Normal pores (hair follicles) allow the oil glands to reach the surface and keep the skin moist. But, if the pore becomes clogged, oil and dead skin cells get trapped which can cause a nasty acne flare up.

So, what can you do to shut them down?

Technically, there’s nothing you can do to “close” them. (Pores don’t actually open and close.) You can however minimize their appearance so they’re not as noticeable.

#1. Wash your face twice a day- I know. You’d think that would be a given. But, let’s be honest, we all get a little lazy from time to time. Cleansing your skin regularly removes not only excess oil and pollution, it also removes dead skin cells that can easily become caught in the pores. So, the next time you think about skipping it, ask yourself if it’s worth the risk.

#2. Choose the right products- This of course goes hand in hand with the above. But, unless you’re using the right products for your skin type, you might as well not be cleansing at all.

#3. Steam your skin- Let the pros handle it! Estheticians steam the face before removing problem blackheads not easily seen by our eyes alone.

#4 Consider using a primer- A primer such as KmS Mineral Essentials Prime Perfection Primer is a foundation for the foundation. It smooths and evens the skin so your foundation glides on easier than ever, and the added layer magically reduces the appearance of large pores. It’s a win, win!
