If you live in the States you’re probably switching out your summer clothes (or at least thinking about it) for fall and winter. I shudder at the thought this year with our move from Florida to Michigan. I’m seriously gonna miss my flip flops!
As much as I love this time of year, I find it rather frustrating to plan what I’m going to wear because the temperature can change drastically from day to day, and sometimes even hour to hour. That’s why it makes more sense to layer your clothes instead of reaching for that wool sweater right off the bat.
So what does this have to do with your skin?
When the seasons change, the needs of your skin can change too. You’re gonna find the moisturizer you used last summer just isn’t cutting it anymore. Why?
If you spend a lot of time outdoors this time of year, your skin will become drier because it’s exposed to the cold and wind. And if you spend most of it indoors with the heat running like I do, your skin will dry out because turning the heat on removes moisture from the air and your skin.
And, here’s where the layering comes in.
If you find your skin feeling a little tighter than usual after using your moisturizer, you’ll know it’s getting drier. Before switching completely to a new moisturizer, try using a facial serum like KmS Skin Essentials Advanced Time Rewind underneath your moisturizer both morning and night. The Panthenol (Vitamin B-5) ingredient in this serum is moisture binding, and keeps your skin plump and hydrated.
If you find your skin still needs a little more moisture, try layering the serum with a moisturizer containing extra emollients like KmS Skin Essentials Essential Moisturizer before going to bed. It’s concentrated with Vitamin E, Grapeseed and Organic Jojoba Oil that completely nourishes and protects dry, parched skin.
Dry skin tip: If you notice your mineral foundation looks a little drier than normal after layering with serum and moisturizer, try using KmS Mineral Essentials Select Botanical Foundation. Our customers with dry, aging skin love it’s soothing, moisturizing formula that locks precious moisture in place.
