The Toxic 10 Skincare Ingredients to Avoid!

Laboratory

A couple of years ago, I watched a news program that featured a segment on toxic chemicals found in the food we eat. It got me thinking about the makeup and body care products we use every day. It’s hard to imagine the FDA would allow us to be exposed!

Aren’t they supposed to police this kind of thing?

PREPARE TO BE SHOCKED!

Did you know the average woman  puts 12 to 20 different chemicals on her skin each day? That adds up to 7,300 chemicals a year!  Did you know that of these chemicals, 80% have NEVER been tested for safety? What’s more, we absorb up to 60% of what we put on our skin, and it only takes 26 seconds for these chemicals to enter our bloodstream!

The FDA isn’t doing their job! They’re obviously not looking out for you and me, and It’s up to us to protect ourselves and our families!

You’re probably wondering if any of these chemicals are in the product you use right now.

I’m betting they are. Below, I’ve listed the 10 most toxic ingredients in skincare today. Why not grab your products now and see if any of these are in the ingredients list.

And here’s the thing. You’ve probably noticed 8 of these ingredients have one thing in common. They’re almost impossible to pronounce! Safe to say if you can’t pronounce it, don’t use it!

Want some great news? You don’t have to spend a fortune on safe, natural skin and body care products. Please, don’t be fooled by a big brand name and fancy packaging. It’s all about the ingredients inside.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you have concerns about chemical ingredients? Tell me all about it in the comments below.

Is Your Makeup a Real Headache??

headache

Every day I get emails from women desperate for a makeup that agrees with their Acne, Rosacea, Dermatitis, you name it. After 7 years, I would have thought I heard it all until yesterday when chatting with a lovely lady we’ll call Ann. I completely expected her to tell me about a skin condition she was battling, and instead, she told me she was no longer able to wear makeup because it gave her a headache

I have to be honest with you. I was rather skeptical.

I was certain there had to be some underlying medical issue that had not been addressed. Then I got to thinking. Could this really be possible? I had to find out.

I was completely blown away.

I stumbled upon article after article on this issue. Experts provided many reasons why this could happen. Fragrance, an unknown allergy, and then there it was. Of course! A chemical reaction!

Did you know the average woman  puts 12 to 20 different chemicals on her skin each day? That equals to 7,300 chemicals a year!  Did you know that of these chemicals, 80% have NEVER been tested for safety? What’s more, we absorb up to 60% of what we put on our skin, and it only takes 26 seconds for these chemicals to enter our bloodstream! I wrote an article about this very thing last year. (You can check it out here. It’s a real eye opener!)

Back to Ann. When I asked her what brand of makeup she had worn in the past, she gave me a rather large list. Wouldn’t you know it? To name a few, the list included copper, preservatives and formaldehyde (yes, the very thing that was a deal breaker when considering becoming a medical examiner.) Each of these ingredients is a major contributor to headaches.

Now, I certainly don’t claim to be a medical doctor, but it makes sense that in order to avoid this from happening to you, you’d take a second look at that makeup or body-care product, right? My mantra lately has been, “if you can’t pronounce it, don’t use it!” Doesn’t it just make you want to run to your bathroom and start reading the ingredient labels? It’s time to get back to basics. I truly believe by using makeup and skincare products that contain little to no chemicals you lessen the chance of these types of product side-effects.

Thank goodness we are able to reach for the product with simple ingredients. Did you notice I didn’t say “natural?” Natural is so overused by marketing experts, natural is just not natural anymore. Be on guard every time you read this on a label. Don’t let those brands fool you! It’s as simple as reading the label on the back. Trust your gut. If you’ve never heard of it, Google it or don’t use it.

So I’m dying to hear your thoughts on the subject, so please leave your comment below. If you enjoyed this article, (and I know you did!) don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already.
